Food-Processing Initiative e.V. (FPI) is committed to fostering the innovation and competitiveness of the food industry and the industry location of North Rhine-Westphalia. Its core tasks include the promotion of innovation in product, technology and knowledge, the creation of strategic alliances and collaborations and the establishment of expert networks for cross-disciplinary exchange of information and experience:

In the implementation of concrete projects FPI gives suggestions, links to competencies and moderates developments. Together, we create innovation and success in the markets of tomorrow.

In November 2000 the membership association was founded by companies of the industry. It provides a common platform for a cross-disciplinary exchange of information and experience. The pooling of competencies from the various sectors of the food industry and various levels of the value chain creates new contacts and opens synergies.

As a link to research institutes, FPI is in contact with all the players involved. The association informs purposeful about new ideas, products, technologies, markets, issues and trends. FPI arranges contacts with companies, national and international experts, identifies partners for projects and promotes cooperation and technology transfer. FPI supports the implementation of new ideas, products and strategies and facilitates the development of new markets. In the context of trade fairs, delegations, seminars and conferences at home and abroad the association presents and represents the capabilities of the food industry.

FPI combines the production skills for high quality and innovative food. With its currently 95 members and cooperation partners FPI covers the food industry as a core area of the food value chain: food-processing companies, machinery and equipment for the food industry, ingredients and flavourings manufacturer, packaging and machinery, IT management and logistics, universities and scientific institutions, organizations, centres and associations.
